Who needs sunglasses any way!?
I read this article just a few minutes ago. Basically the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) has voted unanimously to ban the use of glasses in all its cycling races. Their reasoning being that photographers and reporters have trouble recognizing and capturing the emotion of each rider. They are looking to improve viewership and increase cyclings fan base. Understandable, all be it a little silly. My favorite part about this article is a quote from Angelo Zomegnan the race director for the Giro d’Italia, Italy's most infamous road race.
“Are you crazy? You can’t take sunglasses away from an Italian! That would be like taking his clothes or his shoes or his car! We would cancel the race before we would subject our riders to this indignity.”
Classic.
